Writing Blogs About Reading

Teaching Writing Through Technology

Click on this link to see how a SFSU professor uses informal writing through blogs on a website:

http://english158.edublogs.org

Students in American Literature 158, a General Education, lower-division course, post weekly blogs in response to the professor's prompts. The prompts for the week are described in the middle of the website's page. They ask students to respond to posted visuals connected to the culture and literature of the period, or to respond to specific lines in poems, plays, and novels. This constant writing about reading prepares students for class discussion and enhances their long-term ability to analyze difficult texts in more formal papers.

The students' blogs (under Blogroll) are posted on the righthand side. The teaching assistants' blogs are posted on the lefthand side.
