Tutoring

Tutors from the from the Learning Assistance Center (LAC) and the Campus Academic Resource Center (CARP) have been working closely with some faculty teaching GWAR courses to learn more about their expectations for upper-division writing.

From this collaboration, students from GWAR courses have formed study groups at the LAC and received one-to-one tutoring on assignments tutors have discussed with faculty. LAC tutors have also helped faculty lead peer response sessions in their classes or have led workshops on APA style. Director: Deborah van Dommelen (dvan@sfsu.ed)

CARP tutors have led writing workshops for GWAR classes on various topics: the academic autobiography, the APA style, abstracts for research papers, how to develop and refine research questions, and evaluating sources, to name a few. In addition, CARP offers one-to-one tutoring in the evenings. Director: Morris Head (mhead@sfsu.edu)
