CWEP Mission & Members

The Committee on Written English Proficiency (CWEP)

CWEP is a university-wide committee charged with the role of recommending and implementing policy on writing in the disciplines and writing across the curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels at San Francisco State University.

The structure of CWEP includes representation from every college, and from the Composition Program, the English Department, the feeder Community Colleges, the Learning Assistance Center, the Library, and the Educational Policies Committee of the Academic Senate. As CWEP serves as a consultant on writing issues for the deans of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies, those two deans sit on CWEP. In addition, the Director of Writing Across the Curriculum/Writing in the Disciplines (WAC/WID) is a permanent member of CWEP.

The Academic Senate defines the role of CWEP and provides it with its charge.
